I don't think eating disorder sufferers should be drawn into discussions of trans issues. The sad truth is that treatments for anorexia are a lot less effective than treatments for GD. https://twitter.com/bambii_booo/status/1347802471998095360 …

I've been in multiple treatment centers for AN They're full of women who've been in before and will be in again. There aren't really effective treatments for anorexia. They re-feed you, give you therapy bc they don't know what else to do, and hope eventually you stop relapsing.

Contrast that with treatment for gender dysphoria: Trans ppl post-treatment live healthy lives and do great things! It sickens me that anorexia keeps being brought into conversations about GD, when anorexics desperately need a treatment that works as well as transition does.

Inpatient treatment for anorexia and bulimia is similar to drug addiction treatment- facilities don't share any sort of numbers as to their relapse vs success rate and are not really evidence based. They prey on patients and families, desperate for some kind of hope.

It's the exact opposite of transition related medical treatments, which are constantly under attack, forcing providers to provide more and more evidence that it works. Of course, this evidence is always ignored.

I was a chronically relapsing AN -> AN & BN patient during my 20s. I recovered in my early 30s and transitioned in my late 30s. Yes. Yes, dear. Yes I have been treated for anorexia. Would you like the list of inpatient treatment centers I was at?
