The autism thing I find really interesting and feel frustrated that there isn't more widespread pushback on it. A lot of "nuh uh there isn't more autism among trans ppl" instead of recognising higher rates of autism is a pattern across LGBTQ people generally.
I can't get further than: Either autistic people's lack of interest in being controlled by arbitrary social norms makes them more honest about themselves OR there's some neurochemical connection, but it's fascinating either way.

I’m actually inclined to believe that there’s elements of both, even if it varies from person to person. We can’t really separate autism from the neurological component, and if I recall correctly there’s overlap in areas of the brain for proprioception and body dysphoria.

But there’s also definitely degrees of having less concern for social rules that make no sense. Lot of GNC folks too, including queer folk. Also, if you’re also physically disabled on top of it? Lot of the time you’re more focused on being comfortable, not people’s opinions.
