I have nothing but sympathy for any individual who begins to transition medically and finds that their symptoms of gender dysphoria do not lessen. It was my greatest fear, before I transitioned: That treatment wouldn't work for me.

I would never make the mistake of believing that transition-based treatment will work for every single person- it's a miracle for those of us it works for but every treatment has a failure rate.

What's poisonous about the detrans community is that they don't extend the same courtesy to trans men by accepting trans men have different experiences from theirs. Instead they generalize their rare experience to us, calling us women & trying to save us from ourselves.

Worse, they encourage people who are struggling in early transition to believe it will never get better, removing from their discussions any mention of retransition (common for those who stop transition) or references to medical evidence that transition has been found effective.

There's even a dynamic I've witnessed in online groups where people suffering from particularly severe gender dysphoria are repeatedly told that it's impossible to change one's sex- weaponizing the severity of their condition against them for the purpose of recruiting them.

Imagine being severely gender dysphoric and overcome with despair that it's impossible to ever change your sex, only to be told that you're right & no treatment will ever help you. It's sick.
