      Seriously, though, there are all sorts of parenting styles that can work and all sorts of styles that can feel oppressive. I just about withered under parenting that was too worry-based and protective, whereas my siblings thrived with it.

      In the foster system you learn that even quite bad parents are usually better for their kids than well-meaning strangers. When I call Rodderick an asshole I mean it teasingly, not as part of the pile-on.

      I'm not defending Rodderick... but he hasn't been a proud bigot for years. People dug through his tweets and found ones from a time when "faux offensive" was a dominant mode of humor. It's not a type of humor I find appropriate, but it's different than being an open proud bigot.

      he consistently used racial and homophobic slurs, as well as compulsively making anti-Semitic “jokes,” as recently as 2-3 years ago.

          i’m not trying to frame this maliciously, but like... yes, i do consider *years* of very casual, very public anti-Semitism, anti-Blackness, ableism and homophobia to be loud, proud bigotry.
