I read it more as the rich people backfill this idea that they're passionate about things that make them rich because what they're really passionate about is the economic benefit.

Which I can get. I'm way more passionate about sex work than the stuff I went to grad school for. But my day job is in that stuff because it's consistent and stable and provides heath insurance and lets me take care of my family and I'm passionate about my family.
