There are two core beliefs that transphobes may hold about trans men. The first is that trans men are not men, and trans people are all invalid. Trans men in particular are weak willed women who don't know their own minds and shouldn't make choices about their own bodies.

It's important to understand that this differs from the reasonable restrained transphobe's belief about trans women. The RRT believes most trans women are valid, but the risk posed by a tiny number of abusers (from rapists to opportunistic athletes) are too great to ignore.

But if the not-really-trans-men were a teeny tiny minority, there'd be no reason to worry about them. The number has to be so large that the concerns of actual trans men can be a negligible afterthought. And it works because it fits a sexist notion of women lacking agency.
