      I'd be very interested in an article that reckoned with complexities. The rate of ineffectiveness, regret, or excessive side effects is similar compared to other treatments. Should trans healthcare be held to a higher standard, and what is the rationale if so?

      Yes, the care of children is complicated by the fact that they are children. The UK High Court did a really good job of looking into this.

      I don't know the system in the UK, are children barred from recieving most medical treatments? For instance, can they be prescribed anti-depressants even though there's a risk of permanent negative effects such as weight gain?

      The UK has "Gillick Compliance" to help children give informed consent to medical treatment, but the court concluded that the treatments involved here are too experimental and misleading for Gillick to apply. https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Bell-v-Tavistock-Judgment.pdf …

      Well, since trans treatments aren't misleading or experimental I mean, it sounds like they're being held to a standard other medications aren't. So, I assume this mistake will be reversed at some point.

      As I mentioned, I'm not from the UK. But trans medical care is similar to other treatments so I assume, if a court was somehow misled or mistaken on this, it will eventually be overturned on appeal.

      I should have been more clear: I have not read it because, not being from the UK, it isn't particularly important to me. If it's in line with how they address other treatment for minors, that seems fine. If not I'm sure it will be overturned on appeal.

          It's even less important to me; I'm not trans, and I don't have any kids. But it has broader implications for the whole issue and discusses available evidence. So why not read it?
