Yes, the care of children is complicated by the fact that they are children. The UK High Court did a really good job of looking into this.
I don't know the system in the UK, are children barred from recieving most medical treatments? For instance, can they be prescribed anti-depressants even though there's a risk of permanent negative effects such as weight gain?

Well, since trans treatments aren't misleading or experimental I mean, it sounds like they're being held to a standard other medications aren't. So, I assume this mistake will be reversed at some point.
