My gender dysphoria was misgiagnosed as a mood disorder when I was a teen, so I'm intimately acquainted with the usual procedures for medicating teens. I had permanent changes to my metabolism, temporary changes to my ability to focus in school, and the treatment didn't work.

What the "debate" over trans health care presupposes is that in order for it to be good medicine every diagnosis must be 100% correct, no side effects be experienced, and no patient ever regret starting treatment. It's crazy. It's simply not how medicine works.
