my hot take about the senate races is that door-knocking matters more on those races (vs the presidential race) and the partisan discrepancy there probably made a difference.

a lot of people were saying after the primaries that field doesn't matter, but this is a classic case of generalizing from one example. the incremental gains from door-knocking and other field operations matter more with less name recognition. Biden, Sanders were well known.

I appreciate this bc you're the first I've seen propose some way of squaring the 2016 conventional wisdom that Hillary's door knocking was useless with the 2020 conventional wisdom that Trump's door knocking was determinative.
