Often when I'm complimented by cis people it's for being sufficiently gender conforming so as not to make them uncomfortable. So, that's no good. But, in the queer community there's an- understandable- impulse to laud people who wouldn't get such compliments.
Trans men get squeezed on both sides, in other words. When a cis man tries to be 'one of the good ones' he's maybe giving up some miniscule portion of his social capital, if that. Trans men often try harder to be "one of the good ones," and start from a position of precarity.
