Respecting your pain, but as someone who cares, I think you're making a mistake, now. People didn't know the truth, they were transphobes. If you even know the truth now you were one of a tiny percentage of people whose dysphoria was misdiagnosed or resisted treatment.
But, I don't think it's rational for a friend or family member to substitute their judgement for a doctors' in most cases? Or to be skeptical of an evidence based treatment? Not sure why this needs an exception just bc prejudice and misinfo is widespread.

If someone believes themselves to be smart enough to go against medical judgements, then they can be held to the standard of hewing to medical evidence, which supports transition as the only effective treatment for gender dysphoria.
