And some on the, er, other side, could be less shitty by consistently applying the idea everyone gets to define their own experience, including ppl for whom passing is essential, people who think of their experience in medical terms, people who change pronouns after passing, etc.

It's almost as controlling to say "if gender roles didn't exist no one would really have to transition medically" as it is to say "you're not really trans unless you transition medically". People have different experiences, and different needs, and that's OK.

I'd personally find a genderless society where HRT wasn't available as uncomfortable and oppressive as our current society, maybe more so. There's no possible world where an unadjusted AFAB body would be comfortable for me, regardless of how affirmed I was.
