What we know about detransitioners is they made a major mistake on identity matters at least once already. Asbsolutely no shame in working your shit out, but this is not a group people should listen to when a much larger group of people who made similar decisions wasn't wrong.

What's condescending is asking trans people to respond to detransitioners.

#detrans is a valid part of the transgender experience. Detrans people are swimming upstream in the already very narrow trans river. That takes remarkable bravery, regardless of motivation. We need better education for all and to widen the path so people can safely do both.

It's true that sexual orientation and gender identity are two completely separate things, though often intertwined. The heteronormative world could not distinguish us from gays, so we formed a natural alliance and had solidarity against a common enemy.
