Detrans research is "taboo" and politically inconvenient. It is SUCH a powder keg, most will not touch it/fear job loss."Must b bc numbers r so low." Not. James Capsian tried. What happened there? Swedes may be starting bc they see the iatrogenic risks, the regret going up.

What if it's not taboo, but the people who are interested in pushing detransition narratives don't want to use their right-wing Christian money for a real study because they know or suspect the results wouldn't come out the way they want them to?

There's tons of money out there- more than enough to fund a real study or two, or three. You just gotta ask yourself- why aren't they funding the research if they're so sure it would support their theory?

As stated, political pressures in many forms is not to be understimated. Dr. Lisa Littman tried to even study this new cohort and look at what happened there.

What happened? She's advertising for another study.

After losing her job somewhere else. But yes, hopeful. And did you see the "cancellation" efforts there in action? All to thwart her results/prevent it from happening. She's not an ideologue.https://youtu.be/U7FI6_OKrzc

I think there were just a lot of problems with the study, honestly. She could have just asked parents in a gender clinic to talk about the rapidity of the onset of their kids gender dysphoria. If it's so common, why go to anti-trans propaganda sites if you want to investigate?

It's a truly bizarre choice, and no reason to do it since, if this is a real phenomenon, surely a study asking a wide variety of parents whose kids were being seen at gender clinics would do just as well and not seem so biased politically.

Well wish that was true, but so many, not all, gender clinics have hammers and everything is a nail...and have their own political bias. Some teen detrans talk about feeling shame to express their doubts and if so, clinicians dismiss concerns. So they leave/avoid them.

OK let me think about how to be clearer... I'm saying that if this is a phenomenon outside of gender critical propaganda, you would be able to find evidence of it outside of gender critical echo chambers that originated the term.

Asking parents of kids seen in GD clinics would give you info about rapidity of onset, peer groups, and prior mental health issues too, right? Science is about studying what's happening in the world, not asking people you know believe a thing to tell you it in a survey.

I see what your saying. But a) many clinicians don't believe it can be rapid. "If you think you are, you are." All focus is not on exploration/any underlying issues, but affirming the ID. Many detrans say they got scripts for T in one or two visits.

And b) the social.contagion part: many via online culture/other teens who self-ID all reinforce the same narrative (born this way) and it's unfalsifiable. And they retro search their past for evidence..."it was always there..." It isn't questioned as that would be discrimination.
