      Being a trans man is more like being a programmer. I was a programmer because I got paid to develop software. Now that my job role has changed, I'm not a programmer anymore. But I was a programmer at the time.

      This is always an interesting one for me. I don't disagree! I was always gender dysphoric, and transition would have helped my dysphoria at any time in my life I'd gone through it. But I became a trans man by transitioning- by availing myself of medical treatment.

      You could call the pre-transition me an untreated gender dysphoric, but I wasn't a trans man until I recognized that in myself and sought treatment.
