For every detransitioner there are a hundred trans men who knew who we were and what we wanted.

Same, totally knew I would be a trans man for the rest of my life. Knew that I wanted top surgery, knew I wanted bottom surgery too! #DetransPeopleAreRealPeople #detrans

Except ya didn't, didja? Look, let's compromise. I'm willing to take anyone over 35 and detransitioned 5 or more years ago seriously. There's plenty of trans people who fit that description (I'm one of them), so it shouldn't be hard to find detrans who can meet me on my level.

Just go get an adult, someone who detransitioned 5 or more years ago, and they can tell me whatever serious stuff you guys want trans people to understand, okay?

Oh so 5 years ago is your cut off? What age is an adult? I want to make sure I get this right.

It's a rough cut off, rule of thumb. I just want to talk to someone I can be sure is stable in their identity. Over 35, detransitioned 5+ years ago. Roughly. 4 and a half would be fine if you can't find anyone.

Just so I can feel pretty confident I'm not talking to a future retransitioner. That's reasonable, isn't it?

Not really, because I have a feeling you would find something that makes them untrustworthy. Why does this make you so upset? If you are happy & comfortable as a trans person then why make such a fuse over detrans people?

How would you feel if I said I would only listen to a trans person above the age of 35 who’d transitioned more than 5 years ago on trans issues?

Easy to find. I think experienced voices are better voices in many cases- early transition is such a chaotic time. Luckily we have so many trans voices, including elders, that we could find someone of any description- race, age, experience. Not so much for detrans?

I've publicly said that trans people should stay quiet for the first year of transition- for their own good and the community. Probably best for detrans too but I dont think detrans have the numbers for that.

Perhaps easy to find older trans people that have stuck with it because they received more stringent guidelines from the medical community before receiving hrt or surgery ? It makes sense that we would see a wave of recent detrans since all gatekeeping has been eliminated.

I detransitioned six years ago due to societal/family pressures. I'd been denied housing, treated like trash at work, and felt like I'd never be loved. It was the darkest time of my life and I completely compartmentalized my self-loathing and depression. (1/2)

I got back on hormones this year and my resolve to transition has never been stronger. I have never been more confident that I am a womxn and the world is going to have to pry my hormones from my cold dead hands (2/2)
