What is the purpose of legal gender which requires those of us who deviate from gendered expectations to seek Gender Recognition? Discrimination! It always was! It's the only purpose of the whole thing, from property and voting rights a hundred or more years ago to marriage today

The arguments against are that there are characteristics which must be legally protected based on legal sex/gender. There are numerous models (race, disability, gender reassignment!) for addressing discrimination based on characteristics which aren't statically defined legally.

This fucks people up applying for jobs, it gets you more aggressively searched as suspicious traveling across borders, it causes people to treat us like shit around toilets and makes it difficult to access to services which are associated with one sex when we present as another

None of us would be going begging for state validation of our gender if the entire system wasn't constructed in a way which every day renders us invalid and problematic exceptions which need to be squashed out or forced through some "special" pathway we don't get to define.
