Well, actually, French is trying to say that they don’t hate/fear us as much as we think they do. Yes, they obviously do.
I don't think most conservatives hate me, or hate trans people in general. A few do, but most don't. My point was that they don't have to feel hate to do harm, and David French's lack of hatred in particular is irrelevant to the harm he's capable of doing to people like me.

If you read French's article it turns out that those on the left actually ascribe less hatred to the motives of those on the left. But I'm described as "insane" for saying hatred doesn't matter as much as policies that could take my medical care away or *ahem* put me in an asylum
