I'm getting tired of people saying, in effect, we stopped fighting COVID because we got bored. We opened up because the federal government abandoned us and remaining closed for a year or more was financially and emotionally untenable.
It's not realistic to have expected a lockdown to last until a vaccine was developed. We needed a nationwide plan and massive financial support behind it. It's not people or even states' fault that they're opening up when they weren't given any other realistic option.
Meanwhile, I'm staying home and I hope you can too. But don't blame individuals for the consequences of a massive, ongoing failure at the top.
