I'll never stop fighting for people to hold trans medical care to the same standards of other medical care. That's all I want. No special standards or extra hurdles. Just treat it like other treatments.

People's minds go completely on the fritz on the subject. They say things like "gender clinics don't EVEN perform long term follow ups on their patients!!!" in shocked tones, not stopping to think whether docs usually do long term follow ups on healthy patients post-recovery.

They hold trans care to a standard of 100% success. If a transition related treatment doesn't work for every single patient, it's a scandal. In medicine no treatment is ever 100% successful. Transition surgeries, for example, has less regret than routine cosmetic procedures.

If doctors' understanding of who is and isn't helped by transition evolves to the point where fewer people detransition- as long as it happens without negatively impacting trans people's care- I'm all for it. But it will never be perfect, and regret rates are not currently high.
