If you're a cis woman who oopsy-mistakey-ed your way into transitioning, you're not trans and never were. But most detransitioners are just trans people who found transitiinung too hard and may retransition later. What's confusing you?

Really there are so few detransitioners that people are probably describing the one or two people they know. In my opinion- and if you've read my tweets you may know this- detransitioners have no place in the conversation about trans issues.

GCs have a position that trans men are invalid and can stop being trans/not transition medically if they simply embrace their womanhood For this to be true, detransitioners have to be every bit as trans as trans people, but also not inconveniently retransition.

I don't mean to be coming down on you, personally (although I would warn anyone against forming an opinion about AFAB transitioners with your experience as a starting point).

I'm writing a long opinion piece about this, but basically I think the narrative that AFAB people can't figure out for themselves whether transitioning is right for them is a dangerous one, for both trans men and for women.

I certainly never said to take everything trans people say at face value- that's a very not-me sort of statement. The cis/trans as dichotomous but gender and sex are spectra line is a good one. Decently apt, not exactly something I claimed but hits close enough- I'll take it.
