JK in this you mention concerns 'young girls' are seeking to be men too much now, and that 'escaping womanhood' would be appealing to you too. Us trans men CANNOT escape misogyny. If we're clocked, getting medical care, or just have trauma from it, we cannot escape it. Ever.https://twitter.com/jk_rowling/status/1270749170215903232 …

There's so much in this I want to address but it's overwhelming.
@jk_rowling I hope you'll read this, and that I know so many of us trans men consider life to have been easier when we were cis women. I mainly think of detransitioning bc life would be easier as a cis woman.2 replies 0 retweets 47 likesShow this thread -
And it wouldn't be easier because I'm actually a girl
@jk_rowling. I know I'm a man because of gender euphoria. A lot of us AFAB people (assigned female at birth) actually can't tell if we're trans if we don't experience euphoria from being called another gender, because -1 reply 0 retweets 39 likesShow this thread -
- we mistake our genuine dysphoria for internalised misogyny. We have to do a lot of work to realise we're trans. I've been dreaming of being a man and got really upset as a teen for not having a penis, and it still took me years after that to realise I'm a trans man.

And I think it's because of us mistaking our gender dysphoria for internalised misogyny that a lot of trans men didn't come out and transition before the internet. But now that there's way more awareness and knowledge available to us we can truly discover ourselves

Absolutely. I agonized over whether my dysphoria was really internalized misogyny. I tried so hard to just be cis. The idea that we just casually transition bc it's easier is insulting.
