As a passing trans man, I've found I'm often socially expected to group myself with the other men in mixed settings, and I find I have little to say to cis/het men. I do not similarly struggle with cis/het women.
Unlike the thread author, the most important thing to me is finding relief from dysphoria, and hormones/binding/passing accomplish that. But, there are pluses and minuses. I don't think you can live 30 plus years in a gender and feel zero connection to it.
i won’t say i don’t “understand” men, but i definitely don’t identify with them in any meaningful way. i’ve always gotten along better with women, and transitioning has only underscored that. outside of “i wish people sucked less,” little of that thread resonated with me.
i also can’t really blame anyone for not wanting to endure any of that. we have to prioritize what’s right for us, and i can understand taking steps towards reducing the overall harm being done to you.
