Yeah, not high on the list of problems with the Trump presidency, but this has been going on from the start and has done little to hurt him and if anything has probably helped him by perpetually fueling the right's campaign to discredit the media as "fake news."

Obviously they'd be trying to do that no matter what, but at the margins it does matter when the media tosses them an alley-oop by framing something Trump said in a way that most people know wasn't really what he meant.
I respect both you guys, but isn't the most generous interpretation usually that the president doesn't grasp the basics of a very obvious and important thing that is central to his job at the time?

If the mainstream left said "OMG he's the president and he doesn't understand the basics of his job!" every time instead of "OMG he wants people to inject bleach!" it might be more accurate but I doubt anything would change much.

I was being very generous with him on the bleach thing, until I heard the actual words coming out of his mouth. So I dunno.
