NIGHTLY QUESTION: tell us about something unexplainable that happened to you — your own “glitch in the Matrix” —?

When I was a kid I threw a ball a couple feet, across the kitchen. We never found it. I know it sounds ridiculous to call this a spooky story. To say: We looked everywhere. I lost a rubber ball, as a kid. It happens. But it wasn’t small. And we DID look everywhere. I swear it.

That ball disappeared from this universe.

That happened to me with an earring. I tore my living room apart. Never found it. Even after we moved and cleaned the entire place out. I disappeared from this universe.

I had something similar. One of those plastic flutes. I dropped it between a crack where the porch steps met the front door (cuz we were putting in new ones). Went to find it, it was gone. It was bright pink & a ft long. Not like we could have missed it.

My whole family, for years, searched for a Mrs. Pots figurine that fell behind a dresser. Checked the vents and all.

This happened to my dad and a large piece of candy (a chocolate ball maybe? Can't recall) he lobbed to his wife across the (sparsely furnished) room. VANISHED. Increasingly obsessed, they dismantled everything. EVERYTHING. It was just gone.

Same thing happened to my “blankie.” We all looked for it. A decade later, I wondered out loud at the dinner table as to what ever happened to my blanket. There was a pause and my mom said, “It’s in my bottom dresser drawer.” She HID it in hopes I’d stop sucking my thumb.

It took an atypical bounce across the 4th dimension. That would be one explanation for those times you spend days looking for something you drop, and later find it in plain sight right where you were looking for it.
