Reupping my prediction that if Pete wins the nomination he will make a point of distancing himself from trans rights to appeal to moderates.

This strikes me as a similar, if far more muted, acknowledgment of the OP's statement. Backing off from trans rights is inherently going to pile up more bodies. And I think Pete is willing to compromise on pretty much anything if he thinks it will get him the presidency.
But any one of the other Dems could make that move in the general too. I bring it up w/Pete bc the only reason to support him is that he's LGBTQ and I'm LGBTQ. If he can't be counted on to support the whole community, his identity is moot.
