      Not convinced I owe detransitioners a damn thing. I have a buddy who detransitioned for a few yrs, joined the army as a girl, currently retransitioning.       The trans community does not have a great track record providing support to detrans folks. Many of us know detrans ppl and have detrans friends but the idea of holding space in trans community for folks who have come to realise they're not trans is messy and difficult.

      He panicked, made a dumb mistake, and lost years of life as a man. Now he’s dealing with being one of the last ppl to transition in the US mil before the military ban kicks in, and it was all extremely foreseeable.

      Agreed, and he’s still my friend. I’m just not inclined to make detransitioners in the abstract feel part of my community. Esp not interested in hearing their voices. The way for them to be allies is to talk to their therapists & friends and be publicly silent.
