I was confused about Aghanistan. I didn't like the idea of a war, but we were attacked maybe? Iraq was like... "What? GWB is trying to turn 9/11 into an excuse to go after Saddam Hussein? And the Democrats are just... going along with it? Why? What's wrong with this country?"

I was young enough that I really believed the protests would stop the war from happening, not because the protests were that impressive but because it was such a stupid plan I assumed it would need very little pushing to make people see sense.

For myself it was kind of unusual because France got lots of ire for opposing the war when GWB and Tony Blair walked right into it. Since then, there's been a distinct universal *hatred* of foreign American policy, even though the country was still racist as shit.
