I protested against the Iraq war because it was transparently a bad idea based on a laughable pretext.
Anyone who acts like no one could have known Saddam's WMD weren't really a threat and he had no nuclear program is misremembering. Even though he turned out to have even fewer WMD than most thought, it was obvious he wasn't a threat of any kind.
I was confused about Aghanistan. I didn't like the idea of a war, but we were attacked maybe? Iraq was like... "What? GWB is trying to turn 9/11 into an excuse to go after Saddam Hussein? And the Democrats are just... going along with it? Why? What's wrong with this country?"
I was young enough that I really believed the protests would stop the war from happening, not because the protests were that impressive but because it was such a stupid plan I assumed it would need very little pushing to make people see sense.
