I share this. In my incarnation as a butch lesbian writer I had a niche of being a little skeptical, and a well known American writer who is absolute trash took me up for a while. One reason I piped down after coming out was not wanting to be used as a weapon against ppl like me.
(The other reason, of course, being a strong sense that if I’d been completely wrong about such a big thing as my gender, what else might I be wrong about?)
