as I've posted B4, my idea may be irrantionally existential but I see voting as civic responsibility expressing realistic hope for nation, often involving compromise of one's personal ideal choice, esp in times of danger, as in 2016 and 2020.

I'm not sure we do disagree. I think my vote fits within your framework. I realistically hoped that a larger than average turnout for minor party candidates in 2016 would push the political establishment in the direction of necessary systemic change.
