Trans men don’t benefit from the patriarchy because trans men aren’t viewed as men by the majority of society and I’m fucking tired of seeing people imply that trans men are inherently misogynistic and benefit from misogyny in the same ways that cis men do.

The only trans men who benefit from the patriarchy are trans men who have been transitioning for so long that they have managed to get to a point where they are completely and 100% stealth. Which is such a tiny fraction of the community that it’s not even worth mentioning

Trans guy here- great thread. I do benefit from the patriarchy, at times. And, I have the same tendency towards unthinking sexist attitudes that anyone else who grew up in a deeply sexist culture might. Often those tendencies come more from a male lens than a female lens.

But, I am often viewed more like a woman than a man. The main reason that is a problem & a barrier to me is sexism. So, I am a victim of anti-woman attitudes, while still being a man & being no more pure in my attempts to fight internalized sexist attitudes than anyone.
