Above all we don't demand that they "pick" a gender and stick with it, that they have a binary gender, or that their expression match the gender they say they feel inside.

Conservatives are only just starting to say it: They think accepting gender nonconforming kids and loving them as they are is abuse. It will get louder and angrier and more insistent, and the laws may change to support them. And innocent kids will be terribly, irrevocably hurt.

We need the law on our side, supporting queer foster youth. We need to be able to offer social transition if kid A needs it to stop running away. We need to be able to offer puberty blockers, if kid B's gender dysphoria interferes with their ability to shower or go to school.

Conservatives are throwing their trans and gender nonconforming youth away. Treating them as trash. All we want is to give the kids they reject a safe place, where they can thrive and become whatever and whoever they want to be.
