I want a serious, intellectual, impeccably-argued review of Andrea Chu's "Females" by a trans man and I don't want to fucking write it myself.

None of the excerpts I've seen about this book even *make sense* from a trans masculine perspective, the actual words seem completely meaningless and empty, but God knows I don't want to have to actually read the whole stupid thing.

2. Passing is completely different for trans men vs woman. It happens easily and naturally after starting hormones, so it's less of a source of stress for us. And, we are moving from a state of feminized high visibility to comfortable male invisibility.

3. There are many many weird and bad ideas about women in Chu's book. Cis and trans women are more than qualified to take those on. But, as a trans man, the sheer nonsense of Chu's attempts to wedge us in as an afterthought without understanding us at all shouldn't be ignored.

And, again, I won't write on Chu's book because I don't want to read Chu. I'm busy! It doesn't sound fun. Chu would expect me to take on the unhappy task of writing about Chu out of obligation. Instead I'd rather share half baked thoughts about a book I'll never read.

For me, transition was about gaining the courage to put myself first and accept whatever consequences might flow from that choice. Btw, I've heard the same from many trans women. Chu might see her transition as self-injurious performance art, but maybe she's just weird?
