it seems like a weird time to be calling for amateur government, doesn't it? I don't think the lesson fo trump is really, "anyone could do this job."https://twitter.com/JohnAnzo/status/1179770362776707072 …

This is so fascinating. A must read today. We should be picking Congress randomly out of a phone book and getting things done. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/10/02/upshot/these-526-voters-represent-america.html?te=1&nl=the-upshot&emc=edit_up_20191003?campaign_id=29&instance_id=12808&segment_id=17548&user_id=43a690f3ee27ae0bb7a91aca60c96794&regi_id=20084520 …

Trump is way below average though. I don't think I've ever met a single person who'd be a worse president than Trump.

he is something of an outlier. his lack of knowledge and disinterest in the job are specific issues that I think we should try to avoid in leaders.

I understand the impulse to think a random person would approach politics with more humility and desire for public service than most pols, but also that the real problems with our system could be solved in more direct ways with less risk.

I don't think random ppl who don't want to enter public service have more desire to workin public service than pols, is the thing.

I wonder if there’s an argument for a mix of the two? I don’t know how else you can manage to wrest the levers of power from political dynasties and the wealthy.
