However, as a trans adult who is also a foster parent to two gender nonconforming youth (youth placed with my family to ensure they'd be able to explore safely), I am extremely doubtful that youth are being rushed into transition.
1 of our kids has been with us for over a year, the other for 2 months. Neither has taken any medical steps to transition. If presence of trans adults or adults open to medical treatments was enough to pressure kids towards binary transition, why haven't mine done it?
It’s not trans-ppl generating problems, but activists driven by “theory” to prey on children’s naivety, trust & powerlessness. There *are* permanent effects: e.g: ppl can’t just go back anytime & have normal puberty; surgical removal of penis is clearly damage & permanent etc.
I’m soon to be a parent to two, and have been thinking about this issue lately. It seems really complicated, not yielding to some one-factor explanation like exposure. But I dunno. And the debate is so utterly broken it’s very hard to find solid info.
