Just think it's worth emphasizing how much anguish is entailed when kids have to suffer form unabated dysphoria for years and years... absolutely agree with the common line that not treating is not a neutral act.
I've always agreed that there's a balancing process between trans adults- who, if we can accurately identify them will have much easier lives if transition starts as early as possible- and gender questioning youth, who def shouldn't be rushed into anything prematurely.
However, as a trans adult who is also a foster parent to two gender nonconforming youth (youth placed with my family to ensure they'd be able to explore safely), I am extremely doubtful that youth are being rushed into transition.
1 of our kids has been with us for over a year, the other for 2 months. Neither has taken any medical steps to transition. If presence of trans adults or adults open to medical treatments was enough to pressure kids towards binary transition, why haven't mine done it?
