i just bite mine off. file if needed. grew up blue collar, and doing "man things"..only thing we cared about was making sure nails werent getting hung on anything, and you had enough of *A* thumbnail to open a can of skoal.
That’s always been my approach as well. Great info in the article, though, about chemistry and whatnot
