I think ideally we’d have a president who was not just electable but also well prepared to both undo the damage Trump has caused the nation and address the big problems facing us like climate change and loss of good working class jobs.
Re: working class: If you mean white non-poor working class men, no Dem is gonna win a majority of them. A Biden type might win some and not lose too many of the Dem base, but there are risks in alienating the base too. Getting those guys to stay home & big base numbers is safer.

im talking about electoral votes. hope im wrong, but i dont see either of those 2 winning much in rural america...unless trump's idiotic tarrifs keep getting worse. gotta win first, or it doesnt matter what their idea for climate change is. that's anothe thing that's gna cost

The electoral college was so close in 2016 with Hillary Clinton as the candidate that people can make a plausible argument that Jill Stein voters elected Trump. Which means, if the left wing had been just a tiny, tiny bit happier with the candidate, Trump wouldn't be president.
