i tried really hard for a year or two prior to transition to look as good as i could as a guy. here i am with my stylish glasses and clothes, properly controlled acne, neatly trimmed beard and eyebrows... i looked fine, aesthetically, but it didn't help worth shit.pic.twitter.com/KLji7fMg1P
I developed a pretty severe eating disorder in the hopes that being thin would make me finally feel like I belonged in my body- although I didn't have an understanding of gender dysphoria or any idea I was trans at the time.

i'm very glad you found out what was really going on! (fwiw, i didn't think of myself as trans either at the time; i think it's quite common for people to attempt fruitless or even harmful ways to relieve this sort of discomfort before even realizing what's actually causing it.)
