I have a cautious, skeptical bent. So when I started hearing about social contagion as an explanation or why it seems like there are more trans people out there these days, I took it seriously. I examined it from all angles.

And, what I came up with, was that if some people are being socially influenced to think they're trans or nonbinary for a bit before, presumably, moving on when it's not trendy.... That's. Not. A. Problem. It's nothing. It requires no action.

Now, I know some people worry about surgeries or hormones. Well, the way to help someone who is NB/trans avoid permanent medical interventions they don't need is to USE THEIR FUCKING PRONOUNS.

If you're the one constantly doubting them and making them feel they have to prove they're trans enough, the social pressure is coming from you.
