Hey, I'm a member of the media so I can tell you- they'll go where the mainstream goes. If the mainstream is for racist violence, the media is too. That's why the media is in favor of prisons and police, and against freedoms like the freedom to use drugs or pay for sex.

I'm just saying that the media mirrors mainstream thought- it doesn't generally lead it or significantly diverge from it.

And, you think that's because the media's biases are different from the mainstream biases?

I agree, but that's different from saying the media doesn't generally follow the mainstream thought. There's also a thriving conservative media, as big and established as the so-called mainstream media. For their own branding purposes they call themselves not-mainstream media.

I believe FOX is the most watched cable news channel? Not sure what to call the biggest, most profitable channel if not mainstream. Online, there are loads of conservative news/opinion sites, from the Washington Times and National Review to Brietbart.

That said, I completely agree that there are tons of views that don't get an airing in either left or right leaning mainstream media. Tons of stories that don't get covered, tons of poorly done hackery.
