Kinda off topic, but I was missing about what an actual meritocracy might look like. I thought to myself, if I'm in a meritocracy, I'm going to try to bluff as much merit as I can because I want a better life
How we imagine things work: If I write a resume that somewhat inflates or exaggerates my accomplishments, I'll get a good job! How it actually works: Someone's mom bribes them into a job and then a fabricated resume is created afterwards to justify it.
