Help. I think my foster child is curious about becoming a cop. What can I do to steer him away from this dangerous and immoral lifestyle choice?

Hmmm what's drawing him to the police force? What does he find appealing? Can we come up with other ideas that hold a similar appeal? If what he cares about is *justice,* there are so many other possibilities!
It's hard to say what he's drawn to. His other main interest is being a social worker, but I think he's intimidated by having to complete a lot of school for that. So, I guess maybe he wants a direction, and also to help people/help the little guy?

A social worker friend of mine works for a great organization called Getting Out and Staying Out, a reentry program for young men at/after Rikers. Maybe there's something like it in your area? If it's a possibility, volunteering somewhere like it might help him figure things out.
