I’m not sure what difference it makes if we think of it as a mental or physical illness. The need for effective treatment would be unchanged, as would the efficacy of the known treatments. So it seems to me you’re only invoking mental illness as some sort of attempt at an insult.

Insult? Don't be so defensive. These people need help. They are not well in the head. I feel bad for them tbh.

Well, then I have good news! There are effective treatments that are safe and usually quite inexpensive. Hormone therapy combined with social transition, in particular, is well studied, inexpensive, and works extremely well for most patients.

Furthering the butchery of who they are genetically is NOT therapy and only furthers their own self abuse. They will never become the opposite gender and this eventual realization is why their rate of suicide is through the roof. They need to be stopped before they get this far.
