As a medical matter, it's important bc I need hormones to maintain a male appearance. Socially, it's important if I'm denied housing or a job when someone finds out about my history. Politically, it's important bc some people want to force me by law to live as a woman.
What you're saying is how I want it to be. But many people think I'm a freak and treat me that way and the government is actively trying to make it even worse. The gov wants me to have an "F" on my passport and license forever, so I can never escape from people knowing my past.
I certainly agree with you there. The government should not be policing people’s bodies. I’m just trying to understand the relevance of the nomenclature. As to bathrooms, I’m all for people just using what they’re comfortable with. I realize it’s harder if you don’t look ‘right’.
