I'm not sure I understand your question. I don't identify as trans, I am trans. Trans is just the word we use for talking about people with my medical condition and type of experiences.

I’m not sure why there’s a difference, I guess. It seems to me that you are a man. You were born a man. You had surgery to correct your body to conform to your mind. Why is there a x-man qualifier? Is it important to have the qualifier?

As a medical matter, it's important bc I need hormones to maintain a male appearance. Socially, it's important if I'm denied housing or a job when someone finds out about my history. Politically, it's important bc some people want to force me by law to live as a woman.
