But I've been feeling like cis people really need this sort of thing. They want to hear us say how hard it is being different and how desperately we wish we were like them. And, the stakes are high. So, here you go, cis folks. If you need this, I wrote it for you.

Why do you identify as trans, though? If you were always a man, even in a woman’s body, why not just identify as a man? Why have qualifiers, like trans and cis? What purpose do they serve, except to create a separation?

I'm not sure I understand your question. I don't identify as trans, I am trans. Trans is just the word we use for talking about people with my medical condition and type of experiences.
