I didn't want to be transgender. There was a time in my life when I would have done anything to avoid the conclusion that I was a transgender man.

How my country responds to the fact of my existence is up for debate. But my existence as a transgender man isn't. It's a fact, one I had to deal with and one that other people have to deal with now too.

I get that it's hard and complicated and messes with a lot of your basic assumptions about science and what it means to be a man or a woman. I really do. I get it more than almost anyone. But, it's not a choice I made. I would never, ever, have chosen this.

Your choice, as a cis person, isn't about whether to humor me or accept my ideology. It's about whether or not you're willing to deny my existence because it's easier and more comfortable.
